PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a further compact handy terminal by reducing the total length without increasing the thickness.SOLUTION: An optical information reader comprises: a battery unit, having a rechargeable secondary battery cell 51, for supplying driving power; and a chassis including a display portion having a display unit 30 on the front side thereof and a grip portion having a keyboard section below the display portion on the front side thereof, both of which being aligned in one direction. The width of the grip portion in a direction substantially perpendicular to the one direction of alignment in planar view is made smaller than that of the display portion. The battery unit has a cylindrical secondary battery cell 51 of a cylindrical shape and is housed on the back side of the chassis in the grip portion such that the central axis of the cylindrical secondary battery cell 51 is substantially in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the chassis and the position thereof overlaps in part with the display unit 30. |
