PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pulse tester and an optical pulse testing method for reducing a time for measuring an optical fiber length to be measured in the optical pulse tester performing OTDR measurement.SOLUTION: An optical pulse testing method has successively: an optical fiber length measurement procedure which outputs continuous light to an optical fiber 100 to be measured, measures a time spent for a signal level of return light by the continuous light to be below a predetermined threshold after output of the continuous light is stopped, and measures the length of the optical fiber 100 to be measured by using the measured time; and a waveform recording procedure for setting a distance range defined by the length of the optical fiber 100 to be measured that is measured in the optical fiber measurement procedure, outputting the pulse light to the optical fiber 100 to be measured, and recording a time waveform of the signal level of the return light by the pulse light. |
