A surgical cutting blade (104) for cutting bone material when the blade is coupled to a hand-held surgical saw (102) includes a distal portion (182) comprising a plurality of cutting teeth (184), a shank portion (183) adjacent the distal portion, and a proximal portion (180) adjacent the shank portion. The proximal portion may include a longitudinally extending slot (188) having a proximal opening (192). The slot may be shaped to receive a portion of the surgical saw through the proximal opening. The proximal portion may have a plurality of deflectable fingers (214) respectively separated from a plurality of main body portions (212) by respective gaps (216). The plurality of deflectable fingers may extend adjacent the longitudinally extending slot, and may deflect into the gaps to increase and decrease a width of a portion of the slot.
