The invention relates to a belt buckle (10) for a seat belt, comprising a buckle housing (16), a locking mechanism for locking an insertion tongue which is inserted into the buckle housing (16), a release button (22) which can be moved in a first direction relative to the buckle housing (16) in order to unlock the insertion tongue, and a securing mechanism for preventing an automatic movement of the release button (22) in the first direction. According to the invention, the securing mechanism has a mass body (36) which can be moved in the first direction relative to buckle housing (16) and a rotatably mounted coupling lever (24) with a rotational axis which is stationary relative to the buckle housing (16). The coupling lever (24) is coupled to the mass body (36) and to the release button (22) such that said coupling lever transmits an inertial force, which acts on the mass body (36) in the first direction, to the release button (22) in a second direction opposite the first direction when the belt buckle (10) accelerates in the opposite second direction. |
