The invention relates to a device (11) for identifying defects within the volume of a transparent pane (10), preferably a glass pane. The device (11) comprises a lighting device (12) with which incident light (20) is directed towards at least part of a surface of the pane (10) to illuminate the pane (10), and an image detection device (14, 16) towards which the light (22) back-scattered from the pane (10) is directed for the image detection of the pane (10). The device (11) is designed to generate at least two interference images under different receiving conditions in order to enable or perform the identification of defects by evaluating the at least two interference images.
