<p>To provide a novel cap for a bearing device, the cap being configured so that the cap has a simple configuration, does not cause an increase in pressure within a bearing space when mounting the cap to the opening of the outer ring member, and appropriately exhibits a sealing function. A cap (8) for a bearing device is mounted to one axial end (2a) of the outer ring member (2) of a bearing device (1) and closes the opening (2c) at the one end (2a). The cap (8) includes a cylindrical section (8a) which is fitted in the outer ring member (2), a lid section (8b) which is interconnected to the cylindrical section (8a) so as to close the rear end of the cylindrical section (8a) in the fitting direction (a-direction), and an annular seal section (8c) which, when the cylindrical section (8a) is fitted in the outer ring member (2), is present while being compressed by the outer ring member (2). The cap has an air passage section (12). The air passage section (12) is characterized by being configured so that the air passage section (12) allows air to flow between the inside and outside of a bearing space (S) during the fitting of the cylindrical section (8a) into the outer ring member (2), and so that, in a state in which the cylindrical section (8a) is fitted in the outer ring member (2), the passage of air through the air passage section (12) is blocked by the annular seal section (8c).</p> |
