PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure accuracy in attaching a brush seal ring to a rotating shaft, even if machining precision of a channel part of a channel-type brush seal is not high, thereby significantly improving effect of reducing hydraulic fluid to be leaked.SOLUTION: A shaft seal device includes: an involute channel-type brush seal ring 26 with a channel part 30 formed on an outer circumferential surface; a high-pressure-side brush holder 27; and a low-pressure-side brush holder 28. On an abutment surface between the high-pressure-side brush holder 27 and the low-pressure-side brush holder 28, a groove with a space for housing the channel part 30 is formed. A ring-shaped brush holder holds the channel-type brush seal ring 26 between the high-pressure-side brush holder 27 and the low-pressure-side brush holder 28. The high-pressure-side brush holder 27 and/or the low-pressure-side brush holder 28 have a fitting structure with a pressure bulkhead or a pressure container in an installation position, and have a position reference surface for determining the installation position of the channel-type brush seal ring. |
