PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling method and an apparatus for controlling a crystalline texture of a material to improve related material properties, thereby improving performance of a material for a sputtering target.SOLUTION: A method includes a step where a workpiece 3 (plate or sheet) is fed to rolls 1, 2 by an inclined feed table 4 while being inclined, the feed table being inclined at a predetermined angle (inclination angle) relative to an axis parallel to an axis of a roll of a rolling mill, wherein: an introducing inclination angle is maintained at the same angle throughout the whole rolling paths; and the step is called tilt rolling, where a material in a plate-thickness direction of the workpiece is sheared as a result of tilt rolling. An amount of shear strain together with other rolling parameters that are controlled by conventional rolling method can be ordinarily controlled by the inclination angle. A plurality of paths are used to reduce the plate thickness of the workpiece to a desired value. |
