A base unit upon which a hot beverage making machine is able to stand. The base unit comprises a housing in which there is disposed a holder for holding a plurality of pods for use in the hot beverage making machine for making the hot beverage. The base unit comprises a carousel mounted to an openable and closeable drawer. The drawer is openable and closeable relative to the housing. The carousel moves in the opening and closing direction with the drawer. The carousel comprises sockets for respectively receiving and holding a pod. The carousel is manoeuvrable relative to the drawer to allow certain pod receiving sockets to be brought from a more rearward position in the drawer to a more forward position in the drawer, while causing certain other pod receiving sockets to move from a more forward position in the drawer to a more rearward position in the drawer. |
