An agent for desulfurizing and/or pre-desulfurizing especially molten pig iron or molten steel contains calcium oxide and bitumen. The desulfurization agent optionally also contains magnesium or a magnesium alloy, plasticizer, and an additive. The components are ground to obtain the desulfurization agent. The disclosed agent is added to the molten pig iron or molten steel using a transport gas, by means of a stir-in process, or in the form of one or more briquettes for desulfurization and/or pre-desulfurization and/or slag conditioning purposes. |
