PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add the functions as a bypass passage, a bypass valve or the like to a thermostat device for controlling the flow of engine cooling water, to simplify the entire structure, to improve the assemblability, and to reduce the cost.SOLUTION: A thermostat device includes a main valve 14 which is provided in a cooling water circuit of a car engine 1 to control the flow of cooling water between first and second passages 13, 12, and a thermo-element 15 which is arranged in the first passage to control the drive of the main valve according to the temperature of cooling water. A device body 1A with the thermostat device 10 being built therein has a third passage 20. A second valve element 32 for opening/closing a communication hole to communicate the first passage with the third passage when the pressure of cooling water in the engine cooling water circuit is equal to or higher than the predetermined value, is integrally assembled to a device frame 30 for holding the thermo-element. |
