In a device for separating, opening, and feeding in a reversed flattened condition tubular cartons which are first packed in flattened condition in a holder, the flattened carton is partially pushed out from the holder and is then engaged. removed from the holder and opened by continuously rotating suction members engaging with opposite sides of the flattened carton. As shown, a carton 2 is partially removed from the holder 1 by a reciprocating pusher 3, or alternatively by a feeding pin continuously circulating on a chain or the like or on a cylinder, Fig, 5 (not shown). A continuously rotating roller 4 provided with vacuum cups 6 then co-operates with a roller 5 to withdraw the carton entirely from the holder, and carries it into the path off a continuously rotating suction member 10. The carton 2 engaged on either side by the suction members 6, 10, is opened during the subsequent rotation of the suction members, the member 10 being provided with a movable nozzle which adapts itself to the position of the carton surface held against it. At this point the suction is removed from the nozzle 10, releasing the carton, and an opposite face of the carton is brought against a member 13 which during subsequent movement of the vacuum cup 6 turns the carton over into its reversed flattened condition, when it is gripped by a conveying roll 14 co-operating with the cylinder 4, the suction is removed from the cup 6, and the reflattened carton is fed in the direction of the continuously running chain conveyer 15. To ensure the delivery of the carton to the chain conveyer, equally spaced spring-loaded radial pins are provided on the cylinder 4 which are brought into action as by an eccentric on the shaft 8 to act against the rear edge of the carton when it is no longer gripped by the roller 14. |
