703,589. Watches. BULOVA WATCH CO., Inc. NEW YORK, SUCCURSALE DE BIENNE. Feb. 22, 1952 [Feb. 28, 1951], No.4775/52. Class 139 A self-winding watch comprises an oscillating weight 8, Figs. 1 and 2, a pair of intermeshing wheels 1, 2 pivoted in a yoke 3 which is loosely mounted on an axle 4, one of said wheels being constantly in gear with a third wheel 7 carried along by the weight 8 and either of said wheels 1, 2 being engageable with a winding wheel 9. Fixed to the yoke 3 is a carrier 12 having a tooth 13. A pawl 15 prevents reverse rotation of the winding wheel 9. The arrangement is such that when the weight 8 turns clockwise the wheel 1 meshes with the wheel 9 to wind the mainspring. If the weight 8 now rocks counter-clockwise the pawl 15 prevents reverse rotation of the wheel 9 the teeth of which force the wheel 1 upwardly and then tooth 13 of the carrier 12 now enters between two teeth of wheel 7 which completes the clockwise movement of the carrier 12 and yoke 3 to bring the wheel 2 into mesh with the wheel 9 and again wind the mainspring. The wheel 2 is carried by a spindle 6 the top of which co-operates with a hole 14 in a bridge 11 to so limit the rocking movement of the yoke 3 as to ensure correct meshing of the wheels 1 and 9 and 2 and 9. The carrier 12 may be integral with the yoke 3. |
