PURPOSE: A location-based content providing method and a system thereof provide a mind map generated by using the location of favorite offline places posted on an SNS service by friends of an SNS user and show a search result for the user's search words as well as the location of a certain place on the mind map selected by the user in order to offer the user with customized information about favorite places among his friends. CONSTITUTION: Texts posted by devices of a user's friends on an SNS are analyzed and locations, streets, buildings, shop names, or combinations of all of them are collected (S202). A set of category menus are generated for the collected location information using a preset category system (S203). Based on the category menus, a mind map is created and is provided to a user device (S204). The user selects certain information on the mind map through his device (S205). The popularity of a location corresponding to the selected information is analyzed (S206). Based on the analyzed popularity of the location, a location-based content including at least one recommended location is provided to the user device (S207).
