<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently drive an exhaust turbosupercharger by a simple method. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust turbosupercharger 50 is disposed downstream of a collecting part 31c with downstream sides of independent branch passages 16a-16d collected. A variable throttle valve 30 is disposed upstream of the collecting part 31c. A communication passage 41 is provided for disconnecting the independent branch passages from each other when the opening of the variable throttle valve is less than a predetermined opening while mutually connecting the independent branch pipes between cylinders with valve opening periods of exhaust valves overlapped with each other when the opening of the variable throttle valve 30 is the predetermined opening or more. By mixing exhaust gas from a certain cylinder and scavenging gas from the other cylinder, the variable throttle valve 30 is closed when it is determined that it is impossible to perform post combustion in an exhaust passage and the opening of the variable throttle valve 30 is set to the predetermined opening or more when it is determined that it is possible to perform the post combustion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
