摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a retardation plate, with which optical compensation can be attained and a broad retardation plate can be manufactured readily. <P>SOLUTION: A laminate having a resin layer (a) which contains a resin A of positive intrinsic birefringence, a resin layer (b) which is provided to one surface of the resin layer (a) and contains a resin B of negative intrinsic birefringence and a resin layer (c) which is provided to a resin layer (b) surface opposite to the resin layer (a) and contains a resin C of positive intrinsic birefringence, is formed. The laminate is stretched in one direction at temperature T1 and then is stretched in another direction which is nearly orthogonal to the stretched direction at temperature T2 which is lower than the temperature T1 to obtain the retardation plate. In the retardation plate, a lagging axis of the resin layer (a) after stretching, a lagging axis of the resin layer (b) after stretching and a lagging axis of the resin layer (c) after stretching are substantially in parallel with each other. In-plane retardation Rea in the resin layer (a) after stretching, thickness direction retardation Rta therein, in-plane retardation Reb in the resin layer (b) after stretching, thickness direction retardation Rtb therein, in-plane retardation Rec in the resin layer (c) after stretching, thickness direction retardation Rtc therein satisfy following relations: 20 nm<Rea<70 nm, 40 nm<Rta<150 nm, 90 nm<Reb<170 nm, -110 nm<Rtb<-40 nm, 0 nm<Rec<60 nm, and 4 nm<Rtc<130 nm, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
