<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel and liquid crystal display device, in which light escaping is hardly caused at the corner of the liquid crystal display device during black display even when used under a high temperature and high humidity environment. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal panel includes: a liquid crystal cell 10 having a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules aligned in a homogeneous array in the state that an electric field is not present; a first polarizer 21 arranged on one side of the liquid crystal cell; a second polarizer 22 arranged on the other side of the liquid crystal cell; and an A plate 30 arranged between the liquid crystal cell and the first polarizer. The absorption axis direction 21a of the first polarizer and the absorption axis direction 22a of the second polarizer are orthogonal to each other, the absorption axis direction 21a of the first polarizer and the slow axis direction 30e of the A plate are parallel to each other, and the absolute value of in-plane retardation for the light having the wavelength of 550 nm of an optical element for which the liquid crystal cell and the A plate are considered as one body is an odd multiple of a half wavelength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
