PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which suppresses leakage of an excreted liquid etc., even during sleeping by suitably fitting the waves of the wearer's body near the anus and the change of the waves, even in the case of an absorbent article suppressing the leakage of catamenia etc., by fitting along the wearer's bottom cleavage and a little large sanitary napkin covering a part of the hips. SOLUTION: The vertically long absorbent article 10 is provided with: a front surface sheet 1 disposed on a skin abutting surface side; a rear surface sheet 4 disposed on a skin non-abutting surface side; and an absorbent layer 2 positioned between both of the sheets. The absorbent article 10 is composed of: a front section 10a disposed on the abdominal side of the wearer when worn; a rear section 10c disposed on the hip side; and an intermediate section 10b including a section p receiving excreted catamenia between the front section and the rear section. A compression groove 5 which integrates the front surface sheet 1 and the absorbent layer 2 is disposed extending in both side sections in the longitudinal direction of the article. In an anus-opposing section peripheral region q of the rear section 10c of the absorbent article 10, a groove non-provided section 6 where the groove is not disposed so that the compression groove 5 is disconnected in the longitudinal direction of the article of the compression groove 5.
