The assembly method involves electrically connecting a vehicle component to a vehicle by a plug-in connector, and locking the plug-in connector by a locking mechanism such that the plug-in connector is not detachable without unlocking the locking mechanism. The movement path (3) is blocked on which a portion of the locking mechanism is moved to unlock the locking mechanism with a plastic clip (1), such that the locking mechanism is unlockable as long as the plastic clip blocks the movement path. The vehicle component is mounted in the vehicle such that the plastic clip is not removable from the movement path without disassembling the vehicle component or other vehicle component from the vehicle. An independent claim is included for a plastic clip for a vehicle.
