The method involves supplying gas e.g. oxygen, air, carbon dioxide or vapor, leaving from a fluidized bed gasifier (1) to a gas cooler (4), and cooling the gas with temperature from 100 degrees Celsius to 250 degrees Celsius. The cooled gas is supplied to a dust removal device (5) that is operated at temperature of 250 degrees Celsius. Sorbent e.g. activated aluminum oxide, china clay, bentonite or silicon oxide, is supplied to the gas flow in the gasifier before supplying the gas to the dust removal device.
