The press-in jig (10) has an arbor press for holding and pressing the bearing sleeve of the bearing opening (82). An outer peripheral surface of the arbor press is provided for attachment at an inner peripheral surface of the bearing sleeve. The press-in jig also comprises torpedo units and a peripheral wall section of the arbor press is impinged by the torpedo units in sense of a widening of an outer periphery of the outer peripheral surface of the arbor press. The peripheral wall section has a portion of the outer peripheral surface. An independent claim is included for a method for pressing a bearing sleeve in a bearing opening of an engine component, particularly in a bearing eye of a connecting rod.
