PURPOSE: A method for controlling characters in a soccer game and a device thereof are provided to implement a command input mode for personal and team tactic implementation like an actual soccer match by implementing various tactics and personal skills through combinations of limited input buttons. CONSTITUTION: A soccer game character control device performing battle play with an opponent by controlling characters corresponding to soccer players matches a movement command for a character selected from the characters with a first control button set among buttons included in an input unit of a user terminal (S10). A first action command selected from a plurality of action commands related to soccer is matched with a second control button except the first control button (S20). A second action command is matched with a combination of the first control button and a third control button selected except the first and the second control buttons (S30). The first control command for controlling a plurality of characters belonging to a user team at same time is matched with a fourth control button set except the third control button (S40). When the input of one of buttons is received from the user terminal, one or more characters are controlled according to a command matched with the input (S50).
