PURPOSE: A method for obtaining material information and lighting information from an image modeling system and a device thereof are provided to accurately and efficiently extract the material information and the lighting information without complex processing or a sub device by extracting the material information and the lighting information from a pair of images in a random light condition. CONSTITUTION: A device analyzes material characteristics of an object by using a color image of the object (610). The device divides the object into segments based on the material characteristics (620). The device obtains material constants about each segment and lighting information by using a low base function induced from a depth image of the object and pixel values of the color image (630).
