730,142. Boring, facing, and milling- machines. SOC. NOUVELLE DE CONSTRUCTION DE MACHINES-OUTILS ET D'OUTILLAGE PROCEDES C.W.B. July 21, 1953 [Aug. 4, 1952], No. 20231/53. Class 83 (3). A device for taking up play in the slideways 5, between first and second relatively slidable members 4, 7, the second of which is subject to variable stresses by a machine part 8 movable with respect thereto, comprises a roller 13 urged by pressure-regulating means against a rollway parallel to the slideways 'and link means between the pressureregulating means and the movable part 8 including resilient means 87. As the part 8 moves on the saddle 7 a wedge-bar 108 raises a roller carrying a plunger connected through the adjustable spring 87 to a piston in a cylinder 57. The piston forces liquid into a cylinder 20 containing a piston carrying the roller 13, the pressure being indicated by a gauge 66. Thus, the greater the overhang of the slide 8, the greater the downward force: on the rear of the saddle. In a modification, the roller 13 is carried by a slide abutted by a lever 129, Fig. 11, the lever being actuated by a second lever 134 urged about its horizontal pivot by a plunger 137. The plunger 137' is forced upwardly through spring washers 146 by the roller 106 engaging the wedge bar 108. |
