The composition for preparation of a beverage or liquid food product includes a foaming ingredient (containing pressurised gas and releasing such pressurised gas, when water is added, in an amount of at least 1 ml of gas per 1 g of the soluble foaming ingredient under environmental conditions) and a beverage or liquid food product powder or ingredient with solubility retarded so that foam is generated by the foaming ingredient prior to dissolution of the beverage or food product powder when the composition is reconditioned with water to produce a beverage or food product. The composition contains a powder selected from among a cocoa powder, a fruit powder or any other coloured food powder.EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving a cappuccino-type beverage, successfully imitating cappuccino in terms of foam layer thickness/volume and colour which intensifies the colour contrast between the foam and liquid so that to provide for good and clear separation into two layers; the beverage has increased content of white foam comparable, in terms of colour, layer height and texture, to natural milk cappuccino foam obtained by way of foaming fresh milk with steam with further laying of foam with a spoon over freshly extracted espresso.13 cl, 5 tbl, 11 ex
