PURPOSE: A light emitting device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to reduce defects by burying a thin n-type electrode in a recessed part. CONSTITUTION: A p-type semiconductor layer is formed on an active layer. A p-type electrode (900) is formed on the p-type semiconductor layer. An n-type electrode (400) is formed in an n-type semiconductor layer. An n-type pad (800) is arranged on the exposed surface of the n-type semiconductor layer. An insulating layer is formed on the n-type electrode.
