PURPOSE: A variable displacement swash plate type compressor is provided to control the tilt angle of a swash plate based on pressure inside a crank chamber, thereby controlling a displacement thereof. CONSTITUTION: A variable displacement swash plate type compressor (10) includes a cylinder block (12), a single head piston (36), a driving shaft (16), a swash plate (23), a crank chamber (15), and a compression chamber (12b). The pistons are respectively housed in cylinder bores. The piston has a main body and a skirt, and the skirt is formed at a closer end against the main body. The main body has a distal part at one end corresponding to the compression chamber. The distal portion has a tapered part and a bow-shaped part. The bow-shaped part is continuously formed at one end of the tapered part closer to the compression chamber. The tapered part and the bow-shaped part respectively have diameters increasing toward the skirt. The tapered part has a taper angle at 0.45 to 1.5°. A distance between the distal end of the main body and the start point of the tapered part on one end thereof closer to the skirt is 1.5 to 5.0 mm. |
