[Problem] To be able to accurately count the number of cultured cells during cell cultivation, even if the cells have collected densely and formed a three-dimensional cell cluster, without damaging this cell cluster. [Solution] A cell counting method whereby an image of cultured cells is obtained, an image of a cell cluster and images of individual cells are separated from this image, and the number of cells in the cell cluster and the number of individual cells are counted, on the basis of the cell cluster image and the individual cell images, respectively.
