Provided is a washing device that ensures favorable usability and safety while reducing user workload. The opening/closing door (2) comprises, on the front surface thereof: a control panel (3) provided with at least a setting section (4) and a display section (5); a handle section (8) for operating the grip that is used when opening or closing the opening/closing door (2); a cover (7) that covers the handle section (8) during washing of the objects being washed; and a first detection means for detecting the movement of the cover (7). The cover (7) is provided so as to be capable of moving between the handle section (8) and the control panel (3). By moving the cover (7) during washing of the objects being washed, the cover (7) uncovers the handle section (8) on the front surface of the opening/closing door (2), allowing operation of the grip while also making control panel (3) operation impossible by covering the control panel (3). The first detection means temporarily stops the spraying of washing water and puts the device in a standby state.
