PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball 2 having excellent flight performance.SOLUTION: A golf ball 2 includes a core 4, an intermediate layer 6, a reinforcing layer 8, and a cover 10. The core 4 has a center 12 and a surrounding layer 14. The surrounding layer 14 is formed by the crosslinking of a rubber composition. The rubber composition includes (a) base material rubber, (b) a co-crosslinking agent, (c) a crosslinking initiator, and (d) a carboxylate. The co-crosslinking agent (b) is (b1) an α,&bgr;-unsaturated carboxylic acid having a carbon number of 3 or larger and 8 or smaller, or (b2) a metal salt of the α,&bgr;-unsaturated carboxylic acid having a carbon number of 3 or larger and 8 or smaller. The amount of the carboxylate (d) is not smaller than 1 pt.mass and smaller than 40 pts.mass with respect to the base material rubber (a) of 100 pts.mass. |
