Provided is a separator (10) incorporating an electrode, provided with a pair of separator sheets (29) opposed to one another, an electrode (13) being sandwiched between the pair of separator plates (29). Each of the mutually opposed surfaces of the pair of separator plates (29) is provided with a coated portion (31) coated by a ceramic, and an uncoated portion (32) not coated by ceramic, disposed in at least a portion of regions (29a, 29b) corresponding to peripheral edges of the electrode (13). The pair of separator sheets (29) are joined to one another in the uncoated portion (32).
