METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REALIZING ENHANCED PHYSICAL DOWNLINK CONTROL CHANNEL

There are provided measures for realizing an enhanced physical downlink control channel. Such measures exemplarily comprise definition of a physical downlink control channel for multiple terminals in at least one common physical resource block by including a demodulation reference symbol in a predefined subset of resource elements of the at least one common physical resource block and multiplexing downlink control information for the multiple terminals in code division using orthogonal spreading factors in the remaining resource elements of the at least one common physical resource block, transmission of the defined physical downlink control channel towards the multiple terminals residing in a cell of a cellular communication system, and demodulation of the multiplexed downlink control information using the demodulation reference symbol at the multiple terminals.
