PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for culturing human embryonic stem cells.SOLUTION: Human embryonic stem (hES) cells are subjected to suspension culture in a substantially undifferentiated state in a culture medium containing fibroblast growth factor at high concentration, TGFb, stem cell factor (SCF), or Flt3 ligand (Flt3L) or the like, laminin and/or fibronectin or the like, and extracellular matrix components. The culture liquid may contain one or more of the following: fibroblast growth factor at high concentration, other medium additives such as TGFb, stem cell factor (SCF), or Flt3 ligand (Flt3L), one or more soluble or suspended extracellular matrix components such as laminin and/or fibronectin, or the like. |
