The method involves cutting a supporting plate (2) to a measure, and providing an edge bonder (10) at narrow sides of the supporting plate. A transparent plastic plate (3) is cut to oversize opposite to the supporting plate, and the supporting plate and the plastic plate are glued to one another. Narrow sides (22) of the plastic plate are processed to a predetermined required dimension under attachment of chamfers at edges of an upper side turned away from the supporting plate and a lower side (6) turned towards the supporting plate. An independent claim is also included for a furniture plate.
