PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation membrane element that can increase the amount of permeating fluid per unit time and improve stable performance.SOLUTION: A separation membrane element includes a separating function layer on a front face, a separation membrane with a nonwoven fabric disposed as a base material, on a rear face, and a permeating side passage material disposed on the rear face side of the base material. The permeating side passage material is formed of a different material from the separation membrane, and the projection area ratio of the permeating side passage material to the separation membrane is 0.03-0.80. The permeating side passage material is of discontinuous structure and is impregnated in 1-80 μm in the separation membrane. |
