Provided is an active energy ray curable resin composition for forming, on a surface of a thermoplastic resin product, a hard coat layer with very good scratch resistance and abrasion resistance as well as strong shock resistance and weather resistance, or a hard coat layer with excellent scratch resistance and abrasion resistance. This active energy ray curable resin composition comprises: an urethane (meth) acrylate (A) which has, in the backbone of a molecule, an organic group obtained by removing two hydrogen atoms of a hydroxyl group from a tricyclodecane dimethanol represented by formula (1), and has an average functionality of 3 to 6; and a particulate silica (S) with a volume median diameter of 1 to 100 nm as determined by dynamic light scattering. This active energy ray curable resin composition is characterized by the content of the urethane (meth) acrylate (A) being 10 to 40 weight% with respect to the total weight of the non-volatile components of the active energy ray curable resin composition, and the content of the particulate silica (S) being 10 to 60 weight% with respect to the total weight of the non-volatile components of the active energy ray curable resin composition.
