PURPOSE: A composition for preventing apple russeting is provided to produce safe agricultural products using natural products without agrochemicals and to protect human body and livestock from toxicity with less environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing apple russeting contains a mixture of chitosan with a low molecular weight and a Rumex crispus extract as an active ingredient. The chitosan is depolymerized by Rhizopus oligosporus. The average molecular weight of the chitosan is 500-10,000 Da. The extract is a C_1-C_4 alcohol extract of pulverized Rumex crispus. A method for preventing apple russeting comprises the step of spraying the composition onto the apples.
