PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve reduction in size and weight and increase in operation speed in components around a hook.SOLUTION: A sewing machine includes: a needle bar 12; a hook 801; a sewing machine motor 21 for vertically moving the needle bar; hook driving means 401; and a hook mechanism 800. The hook mechanism includes: a hook base 804 for supporting a horizontal hook; a rotation stopper 855 of an inner hook 803; an opener 806 for periodically forming a gap between the rotation stopper and a fitting part of the inner hook; an opener shaft 821 to which rotational force is input; and a transmission mechanism 810 which, when rotation having the same period as that of the vertical motion of the needle bar is input from the hook driving means to the opener shaft, transmits the rotation from the opener shaft to the horizontal hook while increasing a speed by a factor of two. |
