A load equal to a prescribed load is applied to the fuel cell stack in a lamination direction, to acquire a load stack length that is a length in the lamination direction of the fuel cell stack. A load equal to a prescribed load is applied to the fastening member in a direction of a reaction force applied by the fuel cell stack by fastening under a fastening load, to acquire a load fastening member length Q that is a length in the lamination direction of the fastening member and acquire a difference between a load stack length P and a load fastening member length Q. In the fastening member, push-out amounts of plural load adjustment screws 30 provided on a face holding the fuel cell stack are adjusted to a length corresponding to the difference. After the push-out amounts are adjusted, the fuel cell stack is fastened at a prescribed load using the fastening member.
