PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte arranged to prevent ignition and accidental explosion of a battery due to a physical impact from outside and/or internal short circuit at a high temperature of 150°C or higher, and offer a superior level of safety.SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte comprises a lithium salt and a solvent. The nonaqueous electrolyte includes a fluoroethylene carbonate compound (FEC) or a decomposition product thereof in a range of 10-30 wt.% of the nonaqueous electrolyte, and an aliphatic nitrile compound in a range of 1-40 wt.% of the nonaqueous electrolyte.
