PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front protective plate for a display device and a display device having the protective plate having a light-shielding layer that is disposed to conceal opaque wiring lines or the like in an outer peripheral part of a touch panel or the like and that enables a white color design.SOLUTION: A front protective plate 10 for a display device includes a light-shielding layer 2 on a surface of a light-transmitting substrate 1, the light-shielding layer comprising a white resin layer 2w and a metal reflection layer 2m formed of a metal thin film that is opaque and reflective and gives a metallic color, layered in this order. The colored resin layer includes a color pigment in a resin binder comprising a cured product of a curable resin such as a photosensitive resin. Whiteness is enhanced and the light-shielding property is ensured by the metal reflection layer, and problems relating to a level difference can be improved. The protective plate may be integrated with a touch panel by forming, on the side where the light-shielding layer is formed, a transparent electrode of a touch panel for positional detection and an opaque wiring line that is electrically connected to an extended part of the transparent electrode in a part of the light-shielding layer to be concealed by the light-shielding layer. A display device is obtained by combining the protective plate with a display panel or a touch panel such as a liquid crystal display panel and an EL panel. |
