PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance regulation force on alignment of liquid crystal molecules and to improve transmittance for light in a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 101 comprises: a first substrate 6; a second substrate 7 apart from the first substrate 6 and opposing to the first substrate 6; a liquid crystal layer 8 disposed between the first substrate 6 and the second substrate 7; an auxiliary capacitance electrode 5 formed to cover a first region 51 in a surface of the first substrate 6 at the side opposing to the second substrate 7; and a transparent pixel electrode 3 formed on the surface of the first substrate 6 at the side opposing to the second substrate 7. The pixel electrode 3 includes at least one unit region having a line-and-slit structure where a plurality of slits 10 arranged in lines parallel to one another and a plurality of linear portions 32 arranged in lines parallel to one another are alternately repeated. Each of the plurality of slits 10 intersects at a contour line of the first region 51 and has an end inside the first region 51 in a plan view.
