Electrochromic redox material comprises substituted biphenyl-4,4'-diamine derivatives (I). Electrochromic redox material comprises substituted biphenyl-4,4'-diamine derivatives of formula (I). R1, R2 : -(CH 2) n-; n : 1-6, preferably 4; either R5, R6 : aryl (optionally substituted by alkyl); and R6, R8 : H; or R5+R7, R6+R8 : 1,3- propylene bridge; and R3, R4 : sulfonic acid-, phosphoric acid-, carboxylic acid- or boric acid moiety. An independent claim is also included for an electrochromic component comprising the above electrochromic redox material. [Image].
