[Class 81(ii)] In respiratory apparatus for the control of respiration, resuscitation or anaesthesia, a collapsable container 4 of flexible material connected in the inhalation circuit of the apparatus is located in a rigid, glasswalled cylinder 1, the pressure in which is maintained by an air pump 16 and is varied at normal breathing rate by a camoperated venting valve 26. The motoroperated pump 16 supplies air to a chamber 14 fitted with a vent valve 32, an adjustable safety valve 35, a pressure gauge 38, an input port 34 for gas and the valve 26 the casing 27 of which is fitted with a valve port 29 closed by screw cap 30. A stem 25 on the valve 26 is reciprocated by a cam 24 rotated by worm gearing 21, 22, shaft 15 and a motor 20. The air pressure in the chamber 14 is communicated to the cylinder 1 by connector 13 fitted with a branch 42. For resuscitation the face mask is connected to branch 42. The container 4 communicates with a box 5 fitted with an air inlet valve 39, a pressure gauge 8, an inlet 40 for anµsthetic gases, a safety valve 9 and an air pump 10. To induce controlled breathing or anµsthesia the face mask is connected to a pipe 6 leading from the box 5. The cylinder 1 is detachably connected to the chamber 14 by a hollow spigot 12 fitting into the connector 13. |
