<p>Disclosed are a heterogeneous network based service providing method and system, and a media server. The media server is connected to a heterogeneous network base station. The method comprises: the media server determining that a multimedia service stream is pushed to a user terminal when the user terminal accesses a heterogeneous network base station cell. According to the technical solution of the present invention, a multimedia service stream distribution system capable of being maintained by local network maintainers such as a merchant and an office administrator and capable of delivering a multimedia service stream is constructed mainly by making use of the feature that a micro-power base station, a home eNodeB, and a relay base station of an LTE system can position a user. By setting a media server directly connected to the heterogeneous network base station, a media service is provided for a user in a specific geographic area, definitely a social networking service platform may also be provided for the user, and the high traffic cost incurred on the backhaul link of a mobile communications network operator is saved, thereby effectively promoting the development of the heterogeneous network base station based multimedia stream service.</p> |
