<p>This technique relates to an image processing apparatus and an image processing method for allowing the efficiency of encoding disparity images to be improved by use of information related to the disparity images. A correction unit establishes a computing precision of a computation used in performing a depth weighting prediction process using a depth weight coefficient and a depth offset for depth images. The correction unit performs the depth weighting prediction process for the depth images in accordance with the established computing precision to generate depth predicted images. A computation unit uses the depth predicted images to encode the depth images, thereby generating a depth stream. This technique can be applied to, for example, a disparity image encoding apparatus.</p> |
