PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample container handling method and a sample container handling apparatus having improved functional safety and having larger adaptability to automatic handing of a different sample container and a different type cap.SOLUTION: Not only a sample container but also a cap are analyzed by optical input by a camera 80 and allocated to types of the cap and the container, necessary torque required for detaching only the cap is allocated to each type of the cap and/or the sample container, and gripping force of a gripping body head 50 is controlled from the torque.
