PURPOSE: An output voltage variable voltage regulator is provided to improve safety and to simplify a circuit configuration by reducing the loss of overcurrent protective operation even in the case that an output voltage is set at a maximum. CONSTITUTION: An output voltage variable voltage regulator modifies the regulated voltage of an L-shaped overcurrent protection circuit (109) and trims variable resistors (141, 142) of a voltage division circuit (106) by a trimming signal into which a trimming signal generation circuit (110) converts a control signal which is inputted by an external control terminal (103). Therefore, when an output voltage is set high, power loss reduces using the overcurrent protection circuit by setting a regulated voltage high and a short current low even in the case of a maximum loss condition.
