PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus, an image processing method and a camera module are provided to adjust the signal level of extraction data, which is added to a brightness signal by an edge emphasis part, according to the judgment result of a brightness level judgment part. CONSTITUTION: A data extractor extracts data according to the signal level from an image signal. A noise cancellation unit removes noise from the extracted extraction data. An amplitude restriction unit processes amplitude restriction for the extraction data. An edge emphasis unit (33) adds the processed extraction data to a brightness signal obtained from the image signal, and then processes edge emphasis as to the brightness signal. The edge emphasis unit adjusts the signal level of the extraction data added to the brightness signal according to the judgment result of a brightness level judgment unit (54).
