PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnesium hydroxide particles whose emission of α-rays is few, and fluidity when combining with resin and the dispersibility are excellent, and a resin composition containing the magnesium hydroxide particles and a method for manufacturing the composition.SOLUTION: A magnesium hydroxide particle of an external crystal shape of a hexagonal cylinder includes base surfaces of two upper and lower faces that are parallel to each other, and a square pillar surface of six periphery faces formed between the basal surfaces, wherein the size Lc of the c-axis direction of the hexagonal cylinder particle is 0.5-6.0 μm, the size Lc of the c-axis direction is 50% or more of the average particle size of the hexagonal cylinder shape particle, the emission of α-rays is 0.020 c/cm/h or less, and the purity is 98.0% or higher. There is provided a method for manufacturing the particles. |
